My 5 year old loves to use this as a calendar and my 2 year old loves to use this to talk about the weather. The downsides include: the small numbers (I like to use the calendar to teach counting skills and it's hard when they are small), the small boxes (there's really room for just the number and a square but my son like to put the weather and what he is going to do that day which might include several squares....although he doesn't mind if they overlap). I knew would be the case and purchased it anyway because of the price and I'm glad I did! It's been a big hit in the house for both of my children.

My three year-old and I were having confusing conversations along the following lines:

"Mommy, are we going to the store today?"

"No, we we're going tomorrow."

"When is tomorrow? Is today tomorrow?"

And so on . . .

So, we needed a calendar, and this one was the right price, with lots of events and holidays to use. I love it, my son loves it, and we use it every night before bedtime.

It hangs on his door, and the magnets have done great. No problems with them falling off. Good and sturdy.

Also, the picture on amazon used to show old years - but mine came with 2011+.

I have to admit that I love wooden toys for my kids, they seem so much nicer than all the plastic items today. While this isn't a toy, it has that same wooden charm.

In kindergarten, every morning my son had "calendar" first thing in the morning. They would learn what day today was, what that meant yesterday was and what would be tomorrow. I got their wooden calendar to help him and my younger son understand those concepts. It's hard to remember back that far but the concept of what tomorrow means is hard for a young child to understand. The calendar has helped explain those concepts. We've even went into the seasons and how the sun determines what season it is for us.

The calendar itself is magnetic and has a place for the year, month, and days and all sorts of special events. It has come in handy to show the kids how long they have to wait until certain days and holidays.

I think I love this one as much as the kids do.
